KATIE HERZOG
My sculptural pieces are made with cheap
building materials and home décor such as
curtains, tablecloths, and wallpaper. I use these
familiar objects to utilize the language of everyday
human existence. Metal vent covers, nets, and
ropes are industrial products I change into
decorative and suggestive art. The subject I am
interested in conveying with these materials is the
implication of human anatomy. The form of
anatomy, the materiality of flesh, and the
spirituality of life and death are experienced
throughout my work.
